Talking circles, naked river swimming and outdoor showers are just a few of the amazing experiences I had on my AYM course.
Being quite the shy introvert, if you’d told me I'd been doing any of those activities by the end of the course, I would have laughed (quite nervously) and ran a mile. Even after just two hours of meeting, surrounded by nature, tepees and sunshine, my heart slowly opened, and I surrendered to what lay ahead.
All of us completely different from the outside – some loud, others quiet, some with stories from all over the world, some with families young and old – but we quickly united, wanting to soak up this beautiful treatment that we were about to learn.
Each day brought a new technique to learn and a new body part to work on. While daunting at first, it gradually turned into a type of slow-moving meditation with therapist and partner moving from one pose to the next.
Each evening was our downtime, which bought us closer and closer together, listening to what we had experienced that day and then jumping into the cold river to refresh the mind and reset the body. Finally ending the day with delicious food and the occasional Oracle reading.
I've travelled a lot throughout the years but never have I experienced such a close bond with each and every person in such a short space of time. They are my new tribe for life, and I’m truly privileged to be able to share my new craft with others.
